The Brunswick Entertainment Company began as a minstrel show in the 1950s. It was organized to raise money for various school projects that couldn't be funded any other way. Many of the curtains that were on school stages, for instance, were paid for with those funds.
In the mid-60s it was changed to a "Y'all Come" show, maintaining the same basic format until 1969 when it became a musical with skits. The shows, staged about once per year, were written and performed by local residents and were held at the Center Road School, now known as Visintainer Middle School.. In its final few years, the company performed copyrighted musicals.
